Old Big 'Ead
In Albert Park, Middlesbrough stands this statue of locally born Brian Clough. During his career as a striker for his home town of Middlesbrough he was a prolific goal scorer, racking up 204 goals in just 222 appearances. He retired from playing at 29 with a knee injury and went on to manage Hartlepool, then notably Derby County and Nottingham Forest amongst others.
Not everyone in positions of power admired Clough's abrasive style, which earned him the nickname Old Big 'Ead .
He died in 2004 aged 69.
Some famous Cloughie quotes:
I wouldn't say I was the best manager in the business. But I was in the top one
Rome wasn't built in a day. But I wasn't on that particular job.
If God had wanted us to play football in the clouds, he'd have put grass up there
