Over The Top

There are 2 ways that you can go from Wanaka to Queenstown. Now Queenstown is the No 1 tourist destination in New Zealand and for that reason most folk in Wanaka don't want to go anywhere near the place. It's crowded, very difficult to find a park, full of folk younger than The Boss but about the same age as me (3.5) and completely dedicated to removing as much money from visitors in the shortest time possible. Don't get me wrong here, as a tourist destination it's a great place with all sorts of adventures available but Wanaka is really a Kiwi retirement / holiday town and the frenetic pace of Queenstown drives most Wanaka folk nuts. Anyway The "B's" had to pop over there this morning for a meeting and in the winter you have to make a decision regarding which way to go.
There is the long way...Via Cromwell and the Gorge road. Longer but no hi altitude and potential ice and chain fitting and
There is Over The Top, which goes over the Crown Range and can be hazardous in winter especially early before the grit trucks have done their thing. (Potential chain fitting which messes up your business suit)
Because the meeting was early and time was of the essence this morning we played safe and there was The Boss, The Bossess and ME going the long way round.
BUT after the meeting and a play in the park and coffee at The Bossess favourite coffee joint it was back over the top and what we got was what you see.. This is on the Crown plateau, lower than the pass of course and the snow is about a fortnight old but it's a bit chilly up here so things stay snowy for a while after a dump. Oh ...The difference is about 20 minutes The time it probably takes to fit and remove chains but your business suit won't need cleaning and you stay warm and cosy.

A note to the loyal fans. My K9keyboard has lost a bite. Err Byte...(NO I didn't bite it) and I may struggle to reply to you all tonight BUT The Boss is going to git the latest "Bark to Text" software so stay tuned and MANY LOUD BARKS to you all for the support and wonderful comments over the last few days...months...ever since I joined Blip as we count down to the big 200 in 8 days.
