Cardiocrinum giganteum .......

....... otherwise known as the Giant Yunnan Lily.  I presume this is the seed pod ..... it was lying on the ground, a victim of the high winds, in the St Andrews Botanic Gardens.  According to Wikipedia this is the largest species of any of the lily plants. The plant produces beautiful trumpet-like flowers on stems about 2 inches thick and 3 metres tall.

The Internet is rather intermittent here ..... frustrating in the extreme!  I'll comment when I can.
