C5
Today was the "Carnethy 5" hill race and, having not entered it, I was available to be a marshal when asked earlier in the week. So it was that I spent the best part of a couple of hours 500m up Carnethy in driving snow. This did give me the chance to see how the leaders fly down the hill [second extra] and, thankfully, I was wearing enough so wasn't too cold when the last runner came through. I followed her down all the way to the finish [third extra]. Earlier I'd marshalled the point where the runners leave the initial track [first extra] so had a great view [pictured] of the field disappearing into the clouds of the ascent of Scald Law. I also had the honour of marshalling the legendary Jimmy Jardine who has run all 46 races, with all that means in terms of keeping fit over the years!
