"Bubbles"
Mum and I attacked my bedroom this afternoon and managed to unpack the last of the packing boxes from her move just before Christmas and sort out which pictures are destined for her walls and which for the attic.
This framed photo is destined for the attic, but not before I commited it to digital. It is a life sized photo of my late father at 2 years old in 1928, taken by his grandfather - who was a professional studio photographer working in Bexleyheath, Kent. It has been hand-coloured by one of his aunts and no digital photo can capture the quality of this early example of a "coloured" photo.
The photo is affectionately known as "Bubbles" after the Pears Soap advert of the time based on a painting by Millais
