Impressionist......

.....the day the earth moved!

It was the strongest we have felt in a while, 5.7 which jerked violently and then rolled on this beautiful summer's day. I felt seasick as it all came to an end, centred just east of Christchurch with aftershocks from the east and north-east, as I type the house is still creaking, several hours later.

It's intensity is listed as 'severe', buildings were evacuated, no reports of serious injuries, the container barriers stopped falling rocks in Sumner and part of Godley Head has collapsed. Daughter E was shaken and at work alone, crockery fallen from the shelves, the malls and carpark buildings were chaos.

So close to the memorial of February 22, 5 years ago.......it is a reminder.
