Hellebores

Today was one of the days that they were holding tours of the hellebores at Ashwood Nurseries. I went to both of the events last year, but could only get to the one this year. A wonderful morning! Of course I came away with two hellebores myself, so it was an expensive outing! The picture shows flowers from just a few plants floating in water - it makes a very attractive way to display them, and apparently they last quite well in this way, providing they are prepared properly when cut. I don't have enough myself to be able to even think of displaying them this way, and anyway I prefer to leave the flowers on the plants, which continue flowering for several months.
