Watering hole

"The righteous man regardeth the life of his beast" is inscribed above the drinking trough on the left.  The modern equivalent being "keep your bike well maintained".  In the centre is an iron drinking fountain (manufactured in Kilmarnock) and to the right a seat.

Situated about 3/4 of the way up Hawkshead Hill, out of Coniston, one can imagine that this was a welcome stop for man and beast in bygone years.
