There were several yellow admirals on the Buddleia, including this wreck of a butterfly. At least a third of each wing was missing, the pattern was rubbed off, the colours had faded and both antennae were broken off short. Yet it fluttered confidently among the flowers sucking nectar. Another hot, blue sky day. I did a couple of hours of gardening this morning before having to retreat indoors.
