Golden Eye......

Spotted locally on a large pond at a Garden Centre. A rather splendid winter visitor who looks rather handsome at the moment as he is in his breeding plumage.  My husband, a very keen bird watcher, was delighted that I had captured the Nictitating membrane (looks like a line going across the eye). This is evident in  many diving birds and is a 3rd eyelid which helps it focus when underwater. My lesson for the day!!!
