Mystery ship
Had a lovely day out in Rochester today. As it was a monday most of the independent shops were closed and we were disappointed to see our favourite Thai restaurant had followed suit. However, a recently opened Italian restaurant provided us with a good lunch and glass of italian vino.
It was bitterly cold this afternoon but undeterred we had a riverside walk along a currently being regenerated industrial stretch of the Medway, close to the new Rochester railway station..
This unusual looking ship was moored on the river and I researched it on getting home. Apparently it was originally built for the Dutch navy in the 1990s and in 2013 it was brought up from Portsmouth and described as an accommodation barge. It was used by the Royal Navy in portsmouth for crews in the process of changing ships.
Who knows what it is used for now? I shall keep researching.
