Green

Not a big day for photos. Today I was up early (after a night escaping Mr B's loudest snoring yet in the icy cold spare bed - the electric blanket has made me soft) to ready the house for the stove installer... Who called me at 8.30 to say he couldn't come as his supplier had let him down.

So, carpets rolled back into place, on with the day. Today's task was to finally dismantle the broken shower with a view to replacing it. My job was to do the actual dismantling (since I built them). Happily it took a lot less time to take it down than to build it. But given our plumber said it would last a year (we went for quantity, not quality) I think 5 years is not bad.

The photo, since you ask, is the price for the green plasterboard needed to build the new shower enclosure. They never seem to know the price at the checkout, because you're supposed to ask for help and get a ticket - but the chances of finding anyone to help in the outside yard on a chilly day are very slim. Anyway, I hadn't photographed the secret code that's not written down so we still had to wait 5 minutes for someone to find the code. Twice (after the wind broke one of the sheets in the car park...)

Earlier, while Mr B was buying tiles in Toulouse, I had the joy of driving the new-to-us-broken-car. What Mr B described as a 'Star Wars-like noise' coming from the rear end sounds more like a helicopter to me and is apparently the rear differential. Happily, you don't hear it once you get above about 40 miles per hour, at which point it is drowned out by several other noises chiming in in harmony. And my knee hits the steering wheel every time I change gear. Apart from that, it's lovely...
