Day 13 - Another City
The travel arrangements for an orchestra on tour are quite complicated and require extensive planning and precise organization. Each member of the tour is given a booklet that provides day-by-day information that includes the time our bags need to be ready, the time the buses leave, airport, bus, train, hotel, venue and concert information. It is our bible and we cannot function without it.
So according to our booklet, we are now in Munich. Husband and I went to the Neue Pinakotek Museum (18th and 19th Century art) as soon as we arrived and walked back across town to the Marienplatz. We grabbed a quick Weinerschnitzal dinner at the Hofbrau Haus, but we did not have beer, (sacrilegious, I am sure.) I have fallen in love with Gruner Veltliner white wine which was introduced to me by DollyKGray and so I chose that instead since I haven’t been able to get it since Vienna. This is a shot of the Müller’ sches Volksbad along the Isar River which we passed on our speed walk back to the hotel.
We are developing some new skills as well as disorders on this trip.
Speed touring: The ability to check into a hotel and get out the door in less than 10 minutes. Squeeze in as many sights and museums as possible in the allotted time before the concert. Marvel at how good the musicians are at doing this.
Hotel Hallway Disorientation: the inablity to remember which way to turn when coming out of the hotel elevator. Always choosing the wrong way.
