St Paul Jarrow
I set off with a friend to visit Bedes World on the outskirts of Jarrow. Sadly the Museum had been abruptly closed down the previous day for financial reasons. We were able to look around the church attached to the Monastery where Venerable Bede spent all his life. We also listened to an interesting lecture on Bedes life.
This window in the church was unveiled by HRH Diana Princess of Wales 21 May 1985 to commemorate the founding of St Paul Church Jarrow.
The blue represents the heavens, yellow and red the pentecostal flame and the green the earth. The Jarrow cross is white, through which the light of Jesus shines.
BB stands for Benedictine Biscof the founder of the Monastery of St Peter and St Paul.
