Vaguely Marvellous

I'm not sure this is what Lord Leverhulme had in mind for this particular spot!  We went for a walk along the pergola to the Hill Garden on Hampstead Heath,  one of my favourite childhood haunts.  Built for Lord Leverhulme to connect his house to the Hill Garden, it used to be terribly run down and brilliantly spooky, at one point when we were kids we climbed over a gate to break into the forbidden bits. These days it's all open and absolutely gorgeous. It was a lovely walk: the kids forgot to moan long enough to enjoy themselves, and we had tea and cake at the end.
