Diary of an Edinburgher

Glasgow!

We dropped Archie off at his sitters about 10am - he's been with them a couple of times before, and they have their own dog, so he loves it. Archie and his sitter went off for a walk, Archie with nary a backward glance at his mums tearfully waving to him. And at the window appeared Duke, his friend. And another dog! Archie is going have such fun! (We've had a photo of him with his new friend).

It was great just to be popping through to Glasgow on the bus - no deadlines, no bookings, just go when we were ready. Which was just as well, as JR has had a bit of relapse, and would rather have stayed in bed...

The weather hasn't helped - it's been raining most of the day. But we did make an attempt to go to a few landmarks. From the bus station, we could get a bus right to the Kelvingrove Art Gallery. Not such a good idea, because of course, on a wet school holiday, the place was mobbed. However, we did have the best ever chips. And we saw Elvis.

From there we used Google maps to go back into town on the bus. We were near the Lighthouse, so we popped in to see the Paul Smith exhibition. We saw the painted Mini that we had seen in the RAC Club in London where NickyR treated us to scones last year.

We got a taxi to the hotel - by this time we were drookit - and had a relax until dinner. We're on a deal which includes dinner and a bottle of wine - ideal on a night such as this.

And there is a swimming pool! I did my half hour, and then surprised myself by getting into the jacuzzi with four tattooed men and one (un-tattooed) woman. The few times I have I tried it, I fail to see the charms of sitting in warm bubbly water with strangers. Possibly marginally better with people you know...

I think tomorrow is going to be a bit drier!
