Peering in...
Our local fox (see extra) was cold and hungry, and appeared early in the frosty morning light, looking for the old cat biscuits that I'd thrown onto the patio. The hunger forced him to be bold, and a couple of times he stared me in the eyes as I pointed the telephoto lens at him. He eventually disappeared, only to return hot on the heels of Poppy cat, who made it through the cat flap just in time. I'm not sure whether he was seriously considering her as a prey item, but she didn't seem too bothered and soon went out again.
After a day of report writing, Pet, Alex, Ben and I drove down to Cambridge to see the E-luminate festival, when many of the buildings are lit up artistically. We arrived quite early, as I wanted to avoid the rush hour, and the first person we saw when we left the car was my niece Kaddy , standing on a corner waiting for her husband to pick her up. How strange is that?
We then spent a very pleasant hour in the Fitzwilliam Museum, perusing china and weaponry, before walking on towards the city centre, where we dropped into the Mill pub for refreshments and warmth. By six some of the lights had come on, so, with many others, we looked and photographed, before heading to Thai Khun for a very pleasant meal in a very authentically decorated restaurant (according to Alex, who has visited Thailand). It even had a tuk-tuk outside!
It was then time to stroll back through the city centre, stopping to watch various installations, although the chill made it quite uncomfortable to be still for very long. It's always refreshing to visit Cambridge, a city full of culture that seems to bustle with life well into the evening, when Peterborough is either dead or inhabited by drunken revellers.
If it had been warmer we might have strolled for longer but in the end we were just glad to get back to the car and turn the heater on full!
