Nautical Journal Quilts
I dedicated two journal quilts to a nautical disaster that took place in 1896 when the SS Drummond Castle went down off the coast of Brittany. Only 3 people survived. One of the passengers was Jeannie Gilbert and she is commemorated on a gravestone in West Linton Graveyard.
This photographs of the 2 journal quilts is not particularly good as the lighting at the Quilt Show In Ingliston, near Edinburgh airport, where they are being exhibited over the weekend, was poor, but you can see pictures of each individual journal quilt and read more about the story of that shipwreck on my blog post today.
