Victoria Tower, Farnley Tyas near Huddersfield
Visited The Golden Cock, FarnleyTyas (great pub/brasserie: wonderful staff). This is the Victoria Tower, just on the hill overlooking the hamlet.
Processing: used the Velvia film filter in Bibble 5 to bring up the colours then whacked it through the Holga filter in the GIMP - which is free to download and use, by the way, as it's Open Source Software https://www.gimp.org/downloads/
added a border to tidy the edges (always leave room around the edges for a frame if you like to print) and voilà!
No rule of threes, no golden circle... just my eye.
Shot on an elderly Sony A230, with my tatty, temperamental Sigma f/3.5-4.2, 21 - 35mm. It can be a pain, as it's clunky and jams towards 35mm but, hey, it's built like a tank and a thump always clears it. Sweet spot around about F/16 and towards the lower end of it's focal range but I love it too bits. I need to carry it more!
If you've never been up o'er t'Tops then you're missing a treat. The views across the valleys of the Pennines up there are one fo the reasons why Yorkshire folk are so passionate about their county.
Can we have our Ridings back, please?
