The' Teddy Bear'

New toy.

The first of 56 Type 1,  650hp 0-6-0 Diesel-Hydraulic, Loco's, later class 14 was introduced by British Railways in July 1964. They were withdrawn by BR in April 1969, their service life over. The work for which they were intended, was fast disappearing, and they were made redundant .
The nickname 'Teddy Bear 'came from the Swindon Engine Sheds who once made the magnificent 4-6-2 steam locomotives, The Great Bear to now churning out 'Teddy Bears.' see my extra photo of the layout.
