The Seaford Hoard.
Top story in the museum magazine is about stone age axes found when a gas main trench was dug across the High St. The Neolithic (4000 to 2500BC) axes were found tightly packed together as if they had been in a bag. The discovery was made in 1986, but under reported at the time. The find has assumed greater importance as a result of the discovery in 2014 by Archaeology South East of a prehistoric flint-making factory on the site of a sixth form centre not far away. It is suggested the factory was in use for over 40 centuries from 6000 - 2000BC. The High St find could have been the warehouse.
