Into the water
Barely had time to have my first mug of coffee this morning when Mr H was asking if we could all go to the beach. Jesafly was on her way back to the city very early, so she wasn't a starter. The rest of us were.
The water was less co-operative.Low tide was about 1 pm, and in Kawau Bay there are a lot of mudflats. We did consider Scott's Landing at the end of the Mahurangi Peninsula. Decided against it because I thought that I had read that the beach at Scandrett Regional Park was good for swimming at all tides.
Got that wrong. Just like Snells Beach, the water goes out a long way from shore, and leaves mudflats uncovered. The boys were happy enough and headed pretty much straight away for the water, where they frolicked happily. I joined them; at least I walked around with them , including investigation of the rocks at the southern end of the bay.
Then lunch of fish and chips by a playground. Then they had to pack up and leave. End of a lovely weekend with them, and our daughters.
