Fish and Chips
Fish and Chips tonight so I have taken a wee walk along the shore at Caol again while waiting.
The annoying thing about this position at this time of night in wind blown rain is that everything is fraught with difficulty. You need a torch to see that the tripod feet are going somewhere secure, you need to focus on some point at hyperfocal range manually. you need to check the lens is free of rain drops and you need to remember the chips will be ready in a minute or so. In between the dark clowds and showers there was a lovely silvery moon lighting up Ben Nevis which needs under exposed to look right but this turns everything else dark. Thus I walked off leaving the camera clicking while I stood next to the boat manually illuminating it with the flash hand held. On the Nikon you can set exposure bracketing with the interval timer but if you have three shots at say 4, 2 and 8 seconds but the interval (for each set) is 12 seconds it gets totally confused. I therefore relied on sensor dynamic range and a heavy hand on the post processing but still wish I had done things a little bit different
