Truro Drummer Statue
So much heavy rain today just hasn't stopped.
I had to go into Truro today to the garage because yesterday I managed to trap my camera bag leather strap in the tailgate catch on my car and could not open my tailgate. They wanted the car there a 8.30 they did not take long fixing it. I then went around a very wet Truro shopping. I was going to take some images with my G1X but the rain was so heavy. I did take this one though of the Drummer.
The Drummer has only been there for about 2 years. There was a quit a lot of discussion and dislike because he is naked.
This is a clip form on of the papers at the time.
The bronze sculpture - containing Cornish tin and copper - is a figure standing on a sphere beating a drum.
Artist Tim Shaw defended his work which he says portrays a sense "celebration' and Cornwall's "steely determination".
Mr Shaw added: "People have to face the fact that throughout the history of mankind, naked figures have existed all over the world."
