Metro Convention, Paris 15th
Another gloomy day, though only with feeble sprinkles of precipitation. We attended a concert of Baroque brass music at the far west end of the 15th arrondissement, taking the 62 bus--we start at the Rue Tolbiac, which eventually turns into the long Rue de la Convention in the 15th. I had a good window seat returning, for this view in particular.
France is currently devoting much attention to the 100th anniversary of the 1916 Battle of Verdun, a crucial turning point in World War I. A long film on France 2 this evening included brief contemporary footage of Abbé Georges Hénocque in the French trenches, which we were moved to see; we are frequently reminded of him as we pass the Place at the bottom of our street which bears his name; in fact I took this recent blip there.
My extra image today shows a pair of distant starlings opposite our building--actually not common to see out there.
