Osborne House, Glasshouse

The garden staff at Osborne House are having a hard time coping with the huge amounts of rainfall which has caused many parts of the gardens to become waterlogged.

In two days time the Olympic torch is due to be carried through the grounds on its way back to the mainland.

The Blue Peter television show was to stage a live event here on the day but this has sadly been cancelled because of the conditions and the show will now take place from Bournemouth.

Todays blip shows one of the walled garden glasshouses with bedding plants waiting for the ground to improve so they can be planted out. The day started in bright sunshine but since lunchtime we have had more steady heavy rain.
