Thornton Moor
I was invited to walk with Corinthian Column and friends on a new walk called Thornton Moor this morning. It is from a booklet on walking in Haworth and Around ( I have another in the series called Walks in Airedale.)
It was a nice walk as half was new to me and half familiar as part of the Bradford Millennium walk - some of it is also part of the Bronte Way.
We started in sunshine at Doe Park Reservoir, Denholme - see Corinthian here
Through a very boggy valley by a stream below Denholme Clough described as 'moist'! We then crossed two roads and climbed up onto Thornton Moor which you can see in this shot. Great views back over Denholme and beyond from here but the 1.5 mile lane which climbed onto the moor was into a very strong and cold head wind.
Completed the circuit back down Denholme Edge with a great view to the more familiar Hewenden Viaduct.
A fitting walk to celebrate J's (Mr Yorkshirebred who accompanied us) birthday. Cheers J!
