Medicinal G&Ts

JR did not go to school today. Still not right. Although she did manage to walk a few hundred yards down the road to visit a friend for G&Ts (and a very weak one for her) this afternoon.

This morning Archie and I popped over to visit Uncle A, then took the bus back towards town to have a walk through the Meadows. The bus was crowded, and we had sit in the midst, whereas I usually like to sit on the wee seat at the front - less distractions for Archie.

The driver suddenly stopped the bus, looked back into the passengers, and shouted, "Could that wean sit doon!'

I looked around, and there was a small child, about three, walking about in the corridor. The mother was the woman opposite me, who had a pram with a baby in it, and a person who was apparently her mother beside her. They had just been chatting and ignoring the child.

The mother then shouted at the bus driver, 'You tell her! She disnae listen tae me!' and she carried the toddler to the driver, who then waggled his finger at her and told her he'd put her off the bus if she didn't sit down!

As the toddler's mother carried the child to the back of the bus to sit with her, she shouted to her mother, 'Whit will ah tell her?'

To which the mother replied, "Jist tell her tae sit doon.'

They then proceeded to maintain a loud conversation across the length of the bus, mainly about the child's toys - she wanted one that they didn't have with them. Archie and I were happy to get off!

We had a wander through the Meadows, and Archie had a couple of happy romps with dogs while still contected to me.

When we came back I forced myself to go swimming! Lunchtime seems to be a good time to go, and just at the end of my half hour, there was only one other person, and I was afraid she'd suddenly get out, and then I'd be the only person in that lane, and I'd have to stay there till someone else came...

A coffee and toast when I came back while watching the bit of 'Trapped' (an Icelandic detective series) that I'd fallen asleep at last night. Then our favourite Aussie melodrama - we snivvled the whole way through Friday's tearful episode - before popping down the road for G&Ts and delicious nibbles with Rufus and his mum.

I tried to take a photo of the two dogs, but Rufus only looked the right way when food was dangled in front of him (so I've included it). Archie, bless him, posed nicely for as long as it took. And it took a long time...
