Highly Unsprung

A day bookended by wild beasts.

A surreal moment as we all jumbled to the back door this morning to leave and froze as a young Sparrowhawk made a crash landing in the holly bush and just kind of hung about for a wee while to get its thoughts together. I think it was a wee bit embarrassed it had compromised its reputation as a stealthy, fearsomely feathered, ninja serial killer. Sam and Dave got great photos.

Fast forward to nine hours later on the hill with Max and, oblivious to us standing upwind and doing that wonderful four legged pounce on goodness knows what, it was none other than Fantastic Mr Fox. My wee phone camera couldn't cope but he's there all right, looking right at me, to the right of the blurry bush, by the blurry fence in the blurry picture. I didn't get great photos.

It did leave me warm and glowing for a wee bit, having seen it so close, but Max's meanderings soon caught its attention and it headed out of sight.

Works AGM tonight, listening to colleagues talk about their work. For a wee organisation, AVA fairly packs a punch. And lastly, a drive home through hypnotic snow and sleet.
