Peculiar looking fruit/seed/nuts/whatever

I need help please to identify these whatevers that are on a shrub about 2 metres tall. No flowers left just these bunches. Have never seen anything quite like them before.
An extra showing the whole bunch. The white pustules are hard and weren't there a couple of weeks ago when I first spotted this.
