Eilean Bàn Lighthouse,Skye Bridge and Cuillin
Yesterday I blipped the lighthouse at the Southern end of the Sound between Skye and the mainland ,today the Northern end ,designed thistime by Thomas Stevenson, father of Robert Louis.Build on the wee island between Kyle of Lochalash and Kyleakn ,the keeper cottages also sold to Gavin Maxwell in 1966 with island which he intended to turn into nature reserve. One of his beloved otters is buried there. The lighthouse became redundant at night after the Skye bridge used the island for one support ,now red and green buoys in the sound, but it has to kept in pristine condition as it is a land marker in navigational terms.
