Ferry Lane.
So called as it leads to the old slipway where once a horse drawn ferry would take you across the river Cam from Chesterton to Barnwell. It joins Water Street. These days there is a foot and cycle bridge but it would be nice to go across on the ferry. This is a conservation area and on the right is Roebuck House which was rebuilt in 1775. The extensive gardens sweep down to the river. I expect the child in the pushchair is off to feed the ducks !
