On Golden Pond
It was a rare Spring-like February day and I was raring to go outside and enjoy the momentary lull in the Winter action.
My plan was to take a short road trip around the valley to see what I could see, and that's exactly what I did in the mid-afternoon hours. The sky was a brilliant cobalt blue and the sun just beginning it's long descent when I happened to spy a half-frozen pond just to my right as I was driving down Brush Valley Road near Livonia which lies at the very edge of Bald Eagle State Forest.
When I first spotted this pond I was initially intrigued by the way it was sort of half & half...half frozen and half melted, but as I made my way down the small bank to the water's edge I soon realized that the setting sun was casting dreamy reflections on the surface and lending a rich golden glow to the entire surrounding vegetation.
I was reminded of the film 'On Golden Pond' as I happily set to snapping photos with visions of Katherine Hepburn and Henry and Jane Fonda playing silently in the background of my mind.
