It was smaller then....

In 1346, King David II of Scotland was defeated and captured at the Battle of Neville's Cross.   He was taken and locked up in the Tower of London.

In a bit of a panic, the Scottish Parliament had an emergency meeting in Peebles.   In this courtyard, now known as Parliament Square.

Parliament was obviously smaller then - and less expensive.
