Black sand, blue sea

This view of Porto de la Cruz, taken from high on the road out of town, shows the startling colour of the volcanic sand, which has the effect of making the sea look blue rather than green when the sun shines. Our hotel is one of the tall buildings on the left.

We walked round the coastal route from the town today on paths of varying quality - the kind of walk we might have done had we been here on our own. I have to sayonara I'm glad we're able to do the variety of walking we have with HF, for I'd find a week of simply stooging around a tad depressing. As it is, I'm merely knackered...
