The Mart....
Dry and frosty start. The lorry in first thing to collect 39 cattle for Stirling. They took a while to load and both them and us were getting a bit wound up by the time we managed.
A fine drive up the M9 motorway with the snow capped hills in the background and plumes of smoke rising above Grangemouth refinery.
By the time I got there the yardsmen had them sorted out into their pens for me.
The trade was back a bit on last year. They averaged 478K and 204p/K whereas last years lot averaged 430K and 225p/K,which came to the same money in the end. They are away to homes as far apart as Aberdeen to Lincolnshire.May be able to pay a few bills now.
Treated myself to lunch in the canteen before I came home. Managed to avoid 2 lots of speed cops parked up at the road side, but I still don't trust the average speed cameras. Suppose I could do 100mph for half of it,stop at the services for a coffee then do 60mph and the average would be OK !
The extra is some of the art work on Skeldon's lorry that picked up the cattle. They keep their lorries pristine.
