Carberry Tower
My friend J took me here this afternoon - it's a favourite place of hers, now an upmarket hotel. The oldest part of the building dates back to the Fifteenth Century. We had time to have a wander in the grounds, admire some of the snowdrops and then a cup of tea. I've included an extra photo of a beech tree which has its lower branches reaching the ground. Maybe all beech trees would do that if left to their own devices - and maybe the lower branches help support the rest of the tree. But it's definitely an oddity. Some of the other trees had more lower branches than usual - it must have been how they did things on this estate.
