'We all worship the same God'

My trip to the national mosque was an interesting one. Kelvin is an outreach volunteer and we we had a long chat about Islam. We covered extremism and the media, family life, the roots and traditions of prayer, the difference between culture and religion and the role of women in Islam. It was refreshing to have such an intelligent and non judgemental conversation with someone so deeply religious. I often feel I'm being judged and/or preached at, but our exchange didn't feel like that at all. We agreed on much but there were some obvious differences too. I still can't help but hear the emphasis Islam puts on the differences between genders.

In the end he said 'I can tell I have not convinced you, Molly'.
