Smokin....and ...Thinkin
I had left my iPod at home so I didn’t have any music as I was driving in to the hinterland today.
I was thinking about Death (as you do) and how quickly it can happen …. one can wink out of existence in just a spilt second. But really its about the ones that are left behind and what an impact loosing a loved one can be.
I thought about the movies I watch and the unnecessary violence and killings that seem to happen in just about everyone of them ..without the honouring of life..precious…and everyone of them….. you would think ….just about leaves ….someone behind.
It was then I turned the corner….a motorbike accident…a body under a blue cloth pulled all the way over…blood everywhere. There were so many people who had stopped to whet their morbid curiosity (no judgement as I have the same myself though not to stop and take pics with my iPhone). I wondered what that was too …..the almost undeniable attraction to stop and look at the dead and dying…does it make people feel more alive/lucky to be alive……hmm it will be something to look into at another time.
I continued my drive into the hot hinterland..tears running down my face…for what I do not know…(the days have been humid and wicked …..today no exception) to visit my friend.
On the way home the road had been diverted because of the accident so I decided to drive 20klms north to meet the highway to go south.
I passed the sugar mill…it always has smoke billowing out of its stack…but I thought it looked quite beautiful in a way..especially with a bit of fiddling.
I hightailed it down the highway to pick up Flynn from school…did a bit of retail therapy and came home and had a bit of a nap…the day has felt bigger than Gods Undies.
“If you're reading this...
Congratulations, you're alive.
If that's not something to smile about,
then I don't know what is.”
