Vivid

Vivid (adjective):  strikingly bright or intense, as color, light, etc.


I wasn't sure whether or not "vivid" was the right adjective to describe yesterday's unusual sunset over Moscow. 'Vivid' seems to imply that it should be 'lighter and brighter'?  'Spectacular' nonetheless, with particularly unusual depth to the clouds as the sun exited.
