The Vastness of the Sky

On the plains (which is what the east metro area is like) there's not much to obstruct the view of the sky, so I always feel like the sky is so big. So much bigger than back where I used to live in Virginia.

Sometimes I feel like, if I think about it hard enough while I'm looking up, gravity is just going to let go of me, and the spin of the Earth is going to propel me up into the vastness of the sky. Out in the middle of a field on my back, the feeling is so intense, I can give myself vertigo.
