The best place to find well cut, edgy staples? In the men's department. No really. The men's section at Primark and H&M particularly is far superior to the women's in terms of quality and value for money.

Look out for shirts, graphic t's and oversized knitwear. I don't like clingy fabrics or super fitted tailoring so I find the slightly more relaxed fit of the men's xs much more flattering. Men's jumpers and cardigans also tend to be of a higher standard- as theres less fussy detailing the emphasis is placed more on the quality of the fabric. So by mixing these simple menswear pieces into your wardrobe you can add a cool androgenous vibe without loosing your overall femininity.

This white double collared shirt with black button detailing (sehr Karl Lagerfeld) was £10.99 from the H&M men's department. It's a great fit and really easy to wear. Today I teamed it with a CK navy wool jumper, black skinny jeans from Asos, my Dior Homme tweed blazer and loafers. I liked the contrast in length and fit between the women's jumper and men's shirt.

So get shopping ladies! But remember...do it like a dude.
