and relax

The bedroom is finally finished.  Spent yesterday laying the floor and fixing the skirting boards.  Spent over an hour trimming the bedroom door; hang and screw in hinges - check where it rubs the floor - remove, plane a bit off, re-hang - remove, plane a bit off, re-hang - remove, plane a bit off …… finally re-hang.  Door opens freely; stand back and admire handiwork.  Invite Anniemay to open and close door (fully) and bask in praise.

In case you’re wondering why I went through all this palaver, the previous floor was (a) uneven and (b) carpet, which just squashed in various places when the door opened and closed.  

This morning we put the bedroom furniture back in anticipation of a good night’s sleep in our own bed.  Although to get this shot I had to lie on the floor, so I might just as well have stayed there.

I’m done with DIY now.  Although I doubt that in this house this will be the last word on the subject ….
