Male Downy Woodpecker ...

Wow! What a miserable day we have had.  It has been nothing but rain, rain and more rain.

It has rain most of the day but the heaviest rain fall was between 8 pm and 10 pm tonight.  It was of Biblical proportions! We got about 3 inches of rain in less than 2 hours. 

As we were watching TV this evening we kept hearing a humming sound .... like an engine running.  This was during the height of the storm.  When I looked out the front window I saw that there were fire trucks and other personnel down at the corner that we can see from our house.  It is a major intersection and we could see that it was flooded, as it has done in the past.  So we jumped in the car (as any good blipper would do!) and drove down there to see and photograph all the water.  When we got down there we could see that there was car submerged in the the flood waters.  Why do people feel the need to drive into high water????

Before the major rain came I was able to get this picture of a male Downy Woodpecker.  And also the squirrel you see in the extra.  And I have added another squirrel to my 365Project journal.
