Market Scale #17
Couldn't let a month go by without yet another in my series of market scales images. This one was shot at the Fisherman's Market on Playa Principal rather than in or around the central mercado downtown. This series started with close ups of the scale faces, but has since broadened to show these interesting (at least in my mind) pieces of equipment in context (last entry, others in the series). Not sure how easy this will be to capture in the future as the catch seems to be declining with fewer and fewer fish for sale at the beach. I have heard from vendors in the mercado that even they cannot get a reliable supply and some restaurants are having to import fish from other areas to satisfy demand. Hopefully this is just a temporary situation not a harbinger of the future.
