remember when...

...we used to use

hankies all the time! - they used to be a part of our everyday - the norm - but over time, have gotten lost - i wonder why that is

i happened to be looking for something else - when this little hanky fell into my hand - and proceeded to open that 'pandora's box' - of memories regarding all things hanky - as well as embroidered things - because this was made by my grandma - who was an exceptional embroiderer - if she didn't have her crochet hook in her hand - then she had an embroidery hoop around a piece - of linen with all kinds of threads gathered - 'round about, with or without patterns - grandma could make the most remarkable borders - for pillow cases or sheets - for hankies like this one - she was amazing - see what i mean by memories?

once i learned how to embroider myself - she and i, would sit together with needles in hand - stitching away while my mama would get dinner going - it's a favorite childhood reflection - seeing this wonderful basket of flowers spilling over - bringing forth such vivid pictures to mind - has made for me...
