Mount Hallasan, Jeju Island
This is the only day out of mine and Jenny's overlapping holidays where we deemed my photo to be more interesting. I was a bit disappointed with Jeju which is described by many to be a walkers paradise. The coast has a well marked route running all around which is said to be spectacular but I found it to be a bit average. I guess we are spoilt with our fantastic coast line in England.
This day was very good though. Mount Hallasan (actually a volcano) is the highest peak in South Korea. I didn't go to the highest point because this walk on the other side of the mountain was said to be much nicer. I went with some friends from Keystone who were also in Jeju at the same time. We walked up through a snowy forest and emerged onto a plateau and eventually made it to a cabin selling pot noodles. It was very icy and I had to wear little crampons which I have never walked in before.
The extras are one of Jenny's showing a back street Hanoi and one of Rich's showing a bar called Led Zeppelin bar which specialised in playing loud music from a good selection of vinyls on shelves behind the bar.
