Rottnest Channel Swim

We were at Cottesloe beach at 5.30am to see the start of this amazing swim race. Read the latest here.
It was a perfect morning, no breeze, 27degrees, warm water and the promise of smooth waters for the 19.7kilometre swim from the mainland to our Rottnest Island. You can just see the island on the horizon in this pic.
Our friends' son was doing his 2nd solo swim. There are, besides the solos, teams of 4 and duos. Amazing efforts!
