This is the weathervane on Tyron Village Hall. It's French (Tynron, like Dunscore, being twinned with a village in France), hence the 'O' for West, and the pairing of thistle and cockerel.
We left the car here and walked up Tyron Doon (extra is on the top) and Auchengibbert hill. D was reminiscing about how he used to bring the boys up here when they were small and send them off with a small shelter and a couple of sweets to wait for him while he went off on a run. Happy days...
