Lovely lichen

We took it easy this morning with a long lie-in and splendid breakfast of freshly squeezed orange juice, local smoked salmon and scrambled eggs, and home-made granola, toast, and preserves. Then we set out on our mission for the day: to find some snowdrops.

Our first visit was to the impressive Great Polish map of Scotland, which happened to be featured on the BBC web site yesterday. In fact, the drone that took the photo in the BBC news story was hovering overhead when we arrived at the site. The map is beside the Barony Castle Hotel, so while we were there we also took a wander through the grounds. We saw a pretty gazebo, an ice house, a beautiful avenue of trees, an arboretum, a pond, a ravine, a bridge - and lots of snowdrops (mission accomplished).

Then we headed for Dawyck Botanic Garden, where there were even more snowdrops (thousands of them), and some beautiful lichen (blipped). We had a bowl of soup in the café before the third stop of our trip: the Borders town of Peebles.

Our visit to Peebles was focused on a quick rifle through the charity shops. We didn't buy anything (no glug jugs), but still enjoyed looking at what was on offer.

We are now looking forward to another evening of fine dining at the inn.

Isn't it great to see that the [unmentionable] branding has disappeared from our beloved Blipfoto site?

Exercise today: 12,528 steps.
